July Solo Exhibition - 'Rural China'

  • Atkinson Fine Arts Center 115 East Green Street Bensenville, IL, 60106 United States (map)

Opening Reception - June 1, 2017 (7pm-9pm) , Collectors Club (6pm)

My inspiration comes from the world around me. I am especially fond of the green countryside, where the air is devoid of smoke, the sky is a perfect shade of blue and everything is fresh. I believe that the objects and nature around you can really affect your emotions. A clear sky makes me happy, the fragrance of flowers and the singing of birds relaxes me while the quiet moonlight sends me into a trance.

Even the relationship and the co-existence that exists around us, in people with people, people with society and society with nature, is so interesting. The human heart has space for so much. These are the emotions I use to create my works of art.

The main themes that I touch upon in my works are elements from nature like rivers, cattle, farmland and stone paths along with characteristic of life in Southern China. I feel that life in China has reformed a great deal. The people living in cities long for a rural life and reminisce the past. I hope that through my artworks, people can re-live the past that was simple and honest. - Chijia He
